Raising the bar for local doctor education

Posted on 28th August 2017

Cardiologist Dr Roly Hilling-Smith, whose main interest is in clinical cardiology with a focus on coronary and structural intervention, brought his first educational briefing to Dalby this month, discussing on the theme of Cardiac CT with a crowd of GPs and allied health professionals at Mary’s Commercial Hotel.

And in Stanthorpe …Heart of Australia Endocrinologist, Dr Merryn Thomae, discussed New Diabetes Management Options at dinner with local practitioners –  and enjoyed an introduction to a very special, Aussie chocolate hand made by one of her patients. Thank you, Kerrie! Thanks to the Darling Downs West Moreton PHN for supporting this educational event.

Meanwhile, Heart of Australia Cardiologist Dr Damian Roper is continuing our education series in Emerald discussing “Syncope”, including its causes, risks and implications. Dr Roper, one of our longest-serving specialists, is a non-invasive Cardiologist, specialising in Echocardiography.

His main interests include the primary prevention of heart disease in addition to the work-up and management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathies.

Our thanks to Bayer Australia for supporting our regional education programs with a cardiology focus.
